I am a Chartered Biologist (CBiol) with considerable experience of Laboratory and Quality Management in the food and allied industries – and have managed teams of up to 25 people. I am also a recognised QMS specialist, having built a reputation for designing, writing and updating quality systems for ISO9001, BRC, HACCP, TACCP, CLAS (and some LabCred), FSC, Sedex and COSHH.
My experience encompasses chilled and frozen vegetables (included added-value), soups, raw and cooked meats, seafood, dried goods, confectionery, dairy, chilled drinks, baby food, pet food, pharmaceuticals, toiletries, microbiological media and chemicals, and paper manufacture. I have managed customer liaison, including enquiries, complaints and report-writing, becoming an authority on foreign bodies.
As a department manager, I impart to my teams a wide-ranging scientific and technical knowledge, problem-solving, resourcefulness and staff support, especially improving cross-functional communication. In addition, I have supported senior managers, including in the gathering, collation and reporting of factory-performance information, to inform strategic and operation decisions.
